Temporary Audit Prep Accountant (6-Month Contract)

Sacramento, CA | $37-$40/hour

Ledgent Finance & Accounting, a Roth Staffing Company, is recruiting on behalf of our Sacramento-area client for a Temporary Audit Prep Accountant.

Our client is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support the organization through an upcoming audit and potential acquisition. This approximately 6-month engagement will focus on audit readiness, financial documentation, reconciliations, and due diligence support, while also assisting with special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize audit schedules, workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate audit requests and act as a liaison with external auditors.
• Review financial records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
• Assist with month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Support acquisition readiness efforts, including due diligence requests and financial data preparation.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and documentation gaps.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and other accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of audit experience at minimum
• Public accounting audit experience strongly preferred.
• Experience helping a private company prepare for an external audit highly desired.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Experience

• M&A, acquisition readiness, or financial due diligence experience is a significant plus.
• CPA or CPA-track candidate is preferred but not required.
• Experience working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
